Festive decorations can make a home feel more inviting and put everyone in a joyful mood for the holidays, however they can be pretty costly and time-consuming. But decorating doesn’t have to be an arduous and stressful experience, nor does it have to break the bank.

Boil a simmer pot
Similar to dried potpourri, a simmer pot is a great way to freshen up your homes; They’re simple to make and require minimal prep time. A simmer pot is essentially a pot filled with water, herbs, and spices (such as sliced oranges, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, cranberries, pine sprigs, etc.) that gently simmers on a stove-top for a few hours to create a cozy and long-lasting fragrance that will fill up your entire home.
DIY a homemade wreath
A beautiful homemade wreath can be created with just a wired or embroidery hoop, some greenery, and a hot glue gun. Some additional decorative pieces you can add to your wreaths include: ornaments, ribbons, berries, pinecones, holly, etc. Wreaths are excellent decor items to add to your front door entrances or to hang above your fireplaces.

Hang garlands
A decorative garland will look great anywhere around your home, whether it’s draped over your front door, archway, fireplace mantle, staircase banister, or even atop your dining table as a centerpiece. Garlands can be stored and reused for many years to come. And you can also decorate your garlands with your choice of ornaments, pinecones, ribbons, string lights, etc. for an extra festive touch.
Add spray frost to your decorations and windows
Give your holiday decorations a frosty finish using a can of spray paint frost. This is essentially fake snow in a can that can be sprayed onto items such as your trees, garlands, wreaths, tabletop decor, or even on your windows.
Fill clear vases with ornaments
These vases make for wonderful centerpieces and tabletop decor. You can find vases in varying shapes and sizes at the dollar store and fill them with your choice of ornaments, pinecones, string lights, pine sprigs, holly, candycanes, etc. – the options are endless. Also for a great finishing touch, you can also tie a ribbon at the top of your vases.
